This short video presents the basic operation of a deep drawing stamping process. During forming, a punch presses a sheet metal blank into a matched die cavity, causing the material to flow into a deeper, three-dimensional profile.
In a typical production cycle, the blank holder controls the movement of the sheet while forming pressure is applied. Accurate die alignment, suitable pressure and controlled material flow help reduce common defects such as wrinkling, tearing and uneven wall formation.
Unlike machining, deep drawing creates the required shape without removing most of the original material. With suitable tooling and stable press settings, the process can efficiently produce repeated parts with consistent depth, dimensions and surface quality.
For hollow, recessed or cup-shaped components, MAXTECH provides deep draw stamping based on the customer's drawings, material requirements, forming depth and production volume. Available material options include stainless steel, aluminum, copper, carbon steel and other workable alloys.
Deep drawing can form a three-dimensional component from a single sheet metal blank, potentially reducing welding and assembly requirements. Additional operations such as trimming, punching and secondary forming can also be incorporated when manufacturing custom metal stamping parts.
